VISION
The vision of Forestry Extension Service is to become an institution bringing together a team of highly educated specialists and experts, who are fully familiar with all issues pertaining to private forests, implementing forestry policies in the best and most efficient manner, with the aim of private forests fulfilling their economic, ecological and social roles to the maximum possible extent. With consultation and expert activities, we intend to unite forest owners, economists, local and regional self-governments, scientific and research institutions, and all other stakeholders, in promoting the significance of forestry development, with the aim of increasing public forest functions for the society in general and for future generations.
With its activities and operation, the Forestry Extension Service will contribute to environmental protection, employment and higher income on family-owned farms, to development of forestry and the overall Croatian economy, particularly in its rural areas.
MISSION
Forestry Extension Service, as a public institution providing consultation services free of charge and implementing public authority, assists beneficiaries in managing and improving the condition of private forests in the Republic of Croatia.
Beneficiaries of services provided by the Forestry Extension Service are forest owners, associations of forest owners and local and regional self-government units. With its activities, the Forestry Extension Service also protects interests of the Republic of Croatia pertaining to the international obligations assumed, regarding sustainable forest management and contributions to rural development, as well as interests of all its citizens in the preservation of natural resources and comprehensive environmental protection.
In the process of implementing public authority, including monitoring and keeping records on private forests, and particularly by preparing forestry economic plans, we are continually raising awareness and providing information about them. This creates conditions for reliable planning and decision-making regarding guidelines implemented through daily consultations, and by directing funds for public forest functions into capital investments or subsidies for works conducted in private forests. In our operation, we use the latest IT and GIS technology to increase efficiency and reliability. Through ongoing training and cooperation with domestic and foreign scientific, research and educational institutions, state administration authorities and professional associations, we are increasing the number and quality of consultation services daily. Our approach in working with forest owners and their associations encompasses an interactive approach and a high level of transparency in all actions and procedures, in working towards the goals within our authority.
The biggest asset of Forestry Extension Service are its employees. Our professional staff from the field of forestry and other professions, and dedication of all employees in this public institution, opens possibilities for forest owners to fulfil their obligations and exercise their rights easily, in order to contribute to public benefit by a sustainable management of their forests.
